Tuesday 14 June, Burrawang.

Do not be fooled by that sun behind the water symbol for today. It has been raining steadily and heavily almost continuously since Sunday afternoon when I arrived back from Canberra. Although barely 2 hrs drive from here Canberra continues to look dry with the summer grass yellowed by recent frosts. As I returned to the highlands lush green grass reminded me that the grazing country was once rain forest.

I haven't been to the studio today and the view from the front window below hasn't really made me want to venture outside either.

Burrawang Tuesday 31 May 3PM

Weather is relative. While from my point of view the cooler nights experienced in SE Queensland cannot really be thought of as cold, my complaints about the last few days of driving rain will seem very indulgent to those who have experienced floods earlier this year.

However, the rain gauge is overflowing.

The 10ft verandahs have been inundated by wind driven rain.

And, there are puddles in the garden

We had friends from Brisbane for lunch on the weekend and I felt a bit sad as the winter garden with its bare trees and cut back perennials looked very gloomy. As I walked through the garden to take todays weather images I noticed the lichens on the bare branches and the flowering camellias which light up the winter garden.

Willow Vale, Tuesday 26th April

It's still raining, showers were forecast for today, but very heavy downpours and strong winds persisted through this afternoon. Rainwater tanks are all over flowing again and the ground remains squelchy.

Growth is rampant in the garden, though I am noticing a seasonal change in the weeds proliferating. Chick weed, dandelion and creeping vine are relishing the conditions of wet mixed with sunshine this Autumn. It kept cool today reaching about 22 degrees mid morning and then cooling. It's soggy, damp and dull, mixed with lush vibrant green.

Trying to be positive about the rain

It's raining again, with heavy downpours over night and more again this morning. I decided to see the upside of the weather conditions and try out some 'weathered' paintings. These experiments have been left outdoors exposed to the elements with storm clouds added this morning.

30 November: Rain and Mist

Today we have had steady heavy rain with mist. Definitely an indoor day. There are puddles everywhere and the sweetpeas are collapsing with the weight of all the water.
